Angie Rocha, Community Activist

On my recent walk in Southwest Texas following the #Southern Road to Freedom, I met Angie Rocha, a recent college grad from the McAllen, Texas area who joined the walk to honor her Indigenous ancestors. During the seven mile journey along the U.S. border, adjacent to the Rio Grande River, Rocha stopped briefly to talk about her interests in the environment, displacement, forced migration, and her body tatos, (which made her mother turn a side eye :).

Talking to the recent graduateĀ  gave me so much hope for young leaders like her who look forward to engaging with their communities on important social issues of the day.
