I was back out on the banks of the Choptank River Tuesday afternoon preparing for the Second Annual Harriet Tubman Christmas Eve Escape. Thirty-five people have signed up for the three-mile remembrance walk that Linda Harris and I started last year. It was a walk I proposed to honor Tubman’s amazing life, and for me to remain connected to the area following my 2019 twenty-mile night walk across Poplar Neck on Christmas Eve to Denton. We’ll start just before sunset so the walk concludes at night to symbolically give the participants a feeling of the landscape under the cloak of darkness.
