Goodwin Memorial AME Zion

I’d like to thank the members of the Goodwin Memorial AME Zion, in Amherst, Mass., for welcoming me to their service last Sunday morning, and supporting Walk to Freedom. The service was titled “A Service of Lament, Celebration & Trust in God” was very moving for me. Many of the songs, prayers, and readings were sprinkled with references related to walking or marching. As the message reached inside of me emotions began revealing themselves as tears gently made their way down my face. I was surprised how deeply I have embraced the meaning of Walk to Freedom. The service filled me with hope and I was delighted when Pastor Betty Lou Carthon wished me well on my journey and said they looked forward to seeing me again when I return.
