Last fall, I participated in an event in Byberry to commemorate the area’s Underground Railroad history through a historical reenactment and community lantern parade. The program marked the 175th anniversary of a pivotal 1850 meeting at Byberry Hall, where Robert Purvis and local leaders organized a protest against the Fugitive Slave Act.
