To beat the midday heat we are starting off at 6:15 this morning. My backpack is loaded down with water as we resume the mountain climb into Utuado, about 9-10 miles from our end point yesterday.

My brother, whose taking the point with Esteban, has been admonishing me for texting while walking on some these narrow roads.

Man Down

Yesterday in a blink of an eye Esteban fainted from the heat. Fortunately our sag vehicle was right there to revive him with fluids and TLC.

Closing thoughts on day two

The limestone mountains of Puerto Rico remind me of the mountains of Malaysia, steep, young, and covered in vegetation with a jagged edges outlining the hills.
