Yesterday was a difficult day of hiking, nothing fun about it. I walked from Clanton to Calera Alabama, a distance of 21 miles, two hours of it in the dark, to reach the nearest hotel before heavy rains and thunderstorms rolled through the area. The last three miles of the walk I limped on a swollen sore left ankle.
With just 33 miles to go before reaching to 16th Street Baptist Church, my body is in need of rest before beginning the next big leg of the journey. On a brighter note, I surpassed the 100 mile mark yesterday.
If anyone has friends in the Birmingham area, can you please ask them if they would be willing to host a tired traveler for one night. I’m still looking for places to stay this week.
