On the next to the last day of the Walking Southern Roads to Freedom journey I recently completed in McAllen, Texas, we followed a seven-mile dirt road along the U.S. border facing the Rio Grande River. On the opposite side of the border fence, we stopped briefly to pay our respect to Dr. Francisco Guajardo’s grandmother who is buried a short distance from where he talked to our group. In this video clip Guajardo discusses his family’s connection to South Texas and Mexico.
